For the Cake
  1. • Granny Smith Apple (or any tart apple)— 1 or renders 1 and half cup when peeled and chopped.
  2. • Fuji Apple (or any sweet variety) — 1 or renders 1 and half cup when peeled and chopped
  3. • All-purpose flour — 2 cups
  4. • Sugar — 1 cup
  5. • Butter (unsalted) — 1/2 cup (120 grams), at room temperature
  6. • Eggs— 2, large
  7. • Apple sauce (unsweetened)— 1/4 cup (this is an optional ingredient and can be skipped or replaced with sour cream or milk)
  8. • Baking powder — 1/2 teaspoon
  9. • Baking soda — 1/2 teaspoon
  10. • Salt — 1/2 teaspoon
  11. • Vanilla extract — 1 table spoon
For the Crumble
  1. • Cold butter (unsalted) — 1/2 cup (120 grams), cold and diced into cubes
  2. • All-purpose flour — 1/2 cup
  3. • Brown sugar — 1/2 cup
  4. • Ground Cinnamon — 1 teaspoon
  5. • Salt — 1/4 teaspoon
